Mission Statement:
At Congregational Preschool and Child Care Center. our mission is to provide a safe,
nurturing environment the encourages each child to develop individually. We believe children
learn through an active body, the five senses, curiosity and experience. We wish to establish a
caring, respectful community with emphasis on cooperation, communication, emotional
expression, appreciation of diversity, and conflict resolution. We hope our Center will be an
extension of our families' homes.
Through the First Congregational Church of Tempe Church of Tempe, UCC, we are able to
offer a non-sectarian program for children between the ages of 2 through 5. The Preschool is
a non-profit entity and is fully licensed with the Arizona Department of Health Services.
Our admission policy is non-discriminatory. We are open to anyone who wishes to attend our
school.School-aged children will be accepted for day care on a limited basis, with respect to
the ability to meet the needs of the child. The Center provides no transportation.
Daily Program:
Children will have an opportunity to participate in age-appropriate activities, which encourage
development in social and verbal skills, independence, large and small motor coordination,
problem solving abilities, cognitive concepts, and everyday life experiences. Two nutritious
snacks, morning and afternoon, are served daily. Children bring a sack lunch. The Center
provides beverages. (Refrigerator and microwave are available.)
Parental Involvement
Parental involvement is invited and encouraged. There are many opportunities for participation
in the life of the Center: assisting on field trips, serving on the Child Care Board, helping with
special holiday programs and events, donating snack items, doing laundry, etc.
Parents are welcome at the center any time of the day.
Hours of Operation
Our center is open Monday through Friday, from 6:30 a.m. to 6:00 p.m.. Our regular school
year begins in late August and ends in late May. We also offer a summer program.
The Center closely observes the calendar offered by the Tempe School District and Arizona
State University. We observe all major holidays.
We offer full-time care as well as limited part-time care.
Our Staff
Our staff is highly qualified in the field of early childhood development and education. They are
carefully selected for qualities that facilitate development appropriate activities. We encourage
frequent, positive, warm interactions among adults and children. Our usual student ratio is 7
to 1.
